Programs

At the Family Life Center, our programs are designed to meet practical needs while spreading hope and compassion throughout greater Greene County. From growing fresh produce in our Community Garden to providing holiday support through Community Christmas, we’re committed to walking alongside our neighbors year-round. Programs like Coats for Kids help ensure children stay warm and families receive the support they need during challenging times.

Community Christmas

Coming Together to Share the Joy of the Season

The Family Life Center coordinates the county-wide spreadsheet for families and children being served at Christmas. This shared list includes information from local organizations, churches, schools, and individuals who are helping families during the holiday season. The database includes the names, addresses, and schools of families and their children, ensuring that support is organized and no one is overlooked.

Once all partnering groups have selected the families they will serve, the Family Life Center steps in to fill the gaps—making sure every child is covered. For example, if an organization provides gifts for children up to age 12, Family Life Center will ensure that teens ages 13–18 are also included. We also extend support to grandparents who are raising their grandchildren.

After a family is selected by Family Life Center, they are notified and invited to take part in the process. Families help sort toys, stock shelves, and wrap gifts, encouraging a sense of community, dignity, and shared responsibility. All gifts are donated to the Family Life Center and then selected and wrapped by the family, creating a personal and joyful Christmas experience.

In addition to gifts, families also receive food, hygiene items, and paper products, tailored to the size of their household.

Coats for Kids

The Coats for Kids program provides warm winter coats to children in need from October through March. Coats are available during regular Family Life Center hours or at special distribution events. Every child deserves to stay warm—this program helps make that possible, one coat at a time.
